Good Morning, Bedford! Paula Constance here, bringing you the latest issue of the Bedford Daily. First, today's weather: A beautiful fall day! High: 76. Low: 57. Here are the top stories in Bedford today: Did you feel the ground shake over the weekend? You may have experienced a small earthquake if you were in the Nashua area on Sunday. There were reports of an "unconfirmed earthquake" and "seismic-like activity" 24 miles west of Nashua on Oct. 1 at 11:24 a.m. Large earthquakes are not common in the Granite State but do happen from time to time. You can find out more here: (VolcanoDiscovery)Let's be kind, everyone. A TikTok social media challenge in Oct. that encouraged students to 'Slap a Teacher' concerned educators in N.H. and around the country. Schools throughout the state are notifying teachers, parents, and students of the serious consequences that students may face if they commit assault. NEA-NH President Megan Tuttle noted that the lack of respect, chaos, and threats of violence in place of civil discourse at recent school board meetings across New Hampshire is "setting a dangerous precedent." A TikTok challenge in September, that company officials said they tried to take down, encouraged students from elementary to high school to film themselves committing acts of vandalism, including everything from dumping soap dispensers (and filling them excrement) to ripping stalls and urinals off walls. Speaking about the October challenge, Tuttle said that "threatening and engaging in physical harm is not a joke" and schools will have a zero-tolerance policy. Many devoted education professionals are "making the hard decision to leave the work we love" because of disrespect and lack of support, she said. (Union Leader)Americans are making up for lost time and U.S. travel is booming. But since the pandemic, travel trends have changed and more people are choosing to travel locally. Paula Twidale, Senior Vice President of AAA Travel, said that the rollout of vaccinations "has made a big difference" and domestic airline bookings are approaching pre-pandemic levels. Reflecting the new travel trend, the Burglewski family decided to vacation in Nashville, Indiana this year. Most family members wore masks inside and spent a lot of time participating in outdoor activities. They chose a rental home with a porch to gather on rather than staying at a large hotel. Overall, travelers are showing less interest in hotels and international or urban destinations and are actively traveling to rural places, like New Hampshire, with outdoor activities and private vacation rentals. (NHPR)Drive carefully. On Monday, a car rolled over in a single-car accident off of Exit 13 in Bedford on the Southbound off-ramp of the Everett Turnpike. New Hampshire State Police responded to the accident. When firefighters arrived at about 1:40 p.m., they found a vehicle on its roof and a person trapped underneath. The man was taken to the Elliott hospital with unknown injuries. He did not appear to be wearing a seat belt. (Patch) Today's Bedford Daily is brought to you by Ring, a Patch Brand Partner.
