NORRISTOWN, PA — As the recovery from the remnants of Hurricane Ida remains ongoing in the local area, Montgomery County officials have announced plans for multiple new, temporary Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers. Recovery centers offer residents an opportunity receive in-person assistance from FEMA and U.S. Small Business Administration officials in applying for federal aid, the appeals process, and more. The mobile centers will be located in the following locations: Hyatt Place Philadelphia/King of Prussia, 440 American Ave., King of Prussia, Monday, October 11 and Tuesday, October 12, from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.Courtyard Philadelphia Valley Forge/Collegeville, 600 Campus Dr., Collegeville, Wednesday, October 13 and Thursday, October 14, from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.Officials chose the hotels because many victims of the storm who lost their homes are still housed there. These mobile locations will offer limited services; more comprehensive services are still available at the center at Montgomery County Community College's Health Sciences Center, in the Educational Gymnasium. That center, on 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, is open until further notice. Assistance can also be applied for online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362. The deadline for applying for federal assistance, made available through a major disaster declaration in southeastern Pennsylvania by President Biden, is Nov. 10.
