MARIN COUNTY, CA — Forecasts calling for high winds and low humidity have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a red flag warning for parts of the Bay Area including Marin. The red flag warning went into effect Sunday night at 11 p.m. and Marin will remain under the warning until Tuesday at 5 p.m. 🚨 🚩Red Flag Warnings 🚩🚨remain in effect for the North Bay Mountains and East Bay hills and valleys as well as the Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Lucia Mountains, and the interior mountains of San Benito and Monterey Counties.#CAwx #CAfire pic.twitter.com/C5RvsV1zEx— NWS Bay Area (@NWSBayArea) October 10, 2021 The warning means that critical fire weather conditions are expected during this time frame. Gusty northerly winds are expected to top out over 60 mph combined with dry conditions amid a historic drought have fire officials throughout much of the Bay Area including Marin on alert. "Residents are advised to exercise extreme caution during the fed flag warning because a simple spark could cause a major wildfire, including the use of equipment and machinery as well as smoking," the Marin County Fire Department said in a statement.
