Description

FREMONT, CA — Former City Manager Mark Danaj will get almost $300,000 in severance pay from the City, according to a report by Bay Area News Group. The report states that Danaj's abrupt departure on Sept. 30, announced just the day before, came after he was arrested at an apartment in San Francisco on Sept. 15. The case involved a domestic violence incident with a 25-year-old man. The San Francisco District Attorney's Office declined to prosecute the suspected domestic battery and false imprisonment case. Danaj's contract calls for severance pay if he is dismissed by the City, but not if he voluntarily resigns, the report further states. A press release issued by the City on Sept. 29 said, "On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, the Fremont City Council in a special closed session meeting, voted to accept the resignation of City Manager Mark Danaj."
