MENTOR, OH — A $58,000 grant has been awarded to Mentor police to boost traffic law enforcement. The grant was issued by the Ohio Department of Public Safety. The department will use the money to crack down on impaired and distracted driving, speeding, and enforce seat belt use, the city said in a statement. "The Mentor Police Department would like to remind everyone to practice safe driving habits. Wear your seatbelt, don't text and drive, and if you are drinking, pass your keys to a sober driver," the department said in a statement. Live in Mentor? The grant was funneled through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to the Ohio Traffic Safety Office. The total grant given to Mentor police is $58,807.
