DETROIT — The City of Detroit announced Monday that Detroit Animal Care and Control will get a new $5 million building located at Ferry and Russell. The new shelter hopes to resolve the overcrowding issues at the current Detroit Animal Care and Control building by doubling its capacity. The new building will be 30,000 square feet and can house 200 kennels, which is more than doubled the current facility's of 86. The new shelter will also include renovations, such as public parking and an expanded outdoor area for dogs. It will also have a new veterinary clinic with modern amenities to perform advanced treatments. Live in Detroit?
