Please help me save Athena!

Athena comes from a very unfortunate background. The man who owns her is homeless off and on and can be neglectful of her needs. Because of this, Athena struggles with being territorial over her toys, food, and home. Her owner is currently at a rehab facility and it is likely that he will not ever leave. I have been taking care of Athena for a couple of months, but I moved out of the building two days ago, and my new landlord says that I can’t bring her with me. The plan was for my ex husband to watch her until the neighbor either returns or they find a better situation for her. Four days ago, my ex brought his sister's puppy into the house while I was at work. Athena got defensive of her home and attacked the puppy. The puppy did not survive the injuries. My sister in law (who is also the owner of that building) wants Athena out. That’s very understandable, but if I don't find something fast, they will call animal control to have her put down. If they can't get her picked up, they will likely dump her on the street. I am heartbroken and at a loss. I truly believe that Athena is a good dog who was raised in poor conditions. She is so sweet and loving and cuddly and gentle. She loves being with animals once she knows them. She loves meeting new people. She needs a strong owner who understands how to handle a dog with special needs. Please help me save Athena! I'll be happy to answer any questions or provide any other information you need if it means that Athena gets to stay alive and find her new home. I don't know much about Athena's medical history. I do know that she is not up to date on any of her shots - probably never got any in the first place. She is not spayed. Her hips seem to give her trouble now and then. She's about 7 or 8 years old.
