Description
Help is needed for several projects in the Marcy Holmes neighborhood of Minneapolis. Full scope and schedule will be developed with the selected contractor(s) but these are the general outlines of planned, and possible future, projects. Planned: 2 ft. Wide path along the fence line of our lot. Total lot size (per city files) is 105’ X 46’, fenced area is a subset of that. Open, but cost sensitive, as to materials. I have some that might be useful. This project would likely include construction of a low retaining wall on each side of the path. This is the highest priority project. I would really like to complete before winter sets in. 1 ft. wide and approx. 1 ft. deep trench along sidewalk lining the boulevard on 46’ side of lot. To be filled in such a way as to create drainage for sidewalk. (Winter melts create an icy surface across much of the sidewalk.) Thinking of gravel for fill but is this the kind of project where drain tile is appropriate? Another pre-winter project if possible. Secure chain link fabric to fence structure. Needs reinforcement along top and something creative along the bottom. I can probably do the top part but my back prevents scrunching to do the bottom. A couple of other fence related tasks involve squaring gates (they have a definite tilt) and installation of new hardware for closure. There is an approx. 8’ x 50’ runway area that needs attention. It is currently a mixture of decking, patio block, and gravel. We will need to figure out the best surfacing options to minimize maintenance and unwanted plant growth. This area has basement windows on the house side and a 6’ fence on the other. It might be challenging. Possible: Patio design and construction. Likely to include a natural gas fireplace and grill plus seating. Could be a substantial area. Tree and stump removal. 2 or 3 substantial trees. Deciduous. Each estimated at 20 to 30 feet. This would likely be done in conjunction with a total landscaping plan. Clearly a plan and some coordination will be necessary but I am hoping to do this in manageable chunks. At this point, I am looking for expression(s) of interest in one or more piece. This would be followed by a site inspection and submission of a bid. References will be checked before final selection(s) occur. I’m also hopeful that some will have expertise in grading, drainage, plant selection for low maintenance, and dog safety. (Amazing how many common plants may be toxic to our companions.) I should mention that the yard ”belongs to” a large, friendly Golden Retriever. He will be in the yard at times and his safety is a significant priority. This is true regarding selection of materials, site safety, workmanship, and attitude. Thanks for your attention. As mentioned, I am hoping to get some of this done ASAP. Maybe even before winter closes in? I’d like to hear from interested parties by Friday, Oct. 15. Again, not a formal proposal. Just an expression of interest and, perhaps, indication of expertise or certifications.
