All-original: Trying to put together my dream band

Description

I know this is a long-shot, but I figure I may as well try. me: singer/songwriter. Guitarist/keys/some harp and bass. I'm in my mid 50s. I can front a band vocally, but I'd say I'm like the minimally acceptable singer. I can also play lead guitar, but feel the same way, there. Keys? It's impossible to find keyboard players, but I can play. I have written about 30 songs. So, I'm just looking to see if anybody is interested in trying an all-original project. What I think I'd like would be: 1. Singer with serious chops. I'd like to find somebody who can sing better than I can. If you're an actual singer, that's not hard. But if you've beat around bands long enough, you know the difference between people who think they can sing and people who can actually sing is pretty big. Would prefer a singer/guitarist, perhaps? Or singer/bassist? Something like that. Somebody who can sing but also make noise. 2. Bass player who is either a lead singer or backing vocalist. 3. Drummer, especially if you can sing. I'd fill in instrumentally where needed. I sing harmony vocals. Keys if the song called for it. And I can play lead guitar if that's what the band requires. I have very little ego on what I play. I'll play whatever the song calls for. If I had to describe my music, it's probably somewhere in the steeley dan / eagles / beatles space. Here's a quick acoustic demo. It may look like I'm a middle aged geeky nerd, but the truth is, that's exactly what I am. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzZwZ1_zXHs I have recording gear. (Neve preamps and some decent studio mics going into logic pro.) Way more guitars and amps than one human should have. I also have way too many keyboards and an ungainly heavy keyboard amp. I have some live sound stuff, too. Some small main speakers (15" yamaha) and a 600 watt powered yamaha board. No monitors, but I guess all the kids these days use IEMs. I can also clear out room for an indoor rehearsal space. (Basement of a split-level.) Probably being a little too unrealistic and picky, but I'm curious who else is out there looking for a project. Not even sure that people listen to this kind of music anymore. Every day I deal with a sense of dread that the style of music I love the most is now a thing of the past. I just know I'm happiest when I'm playing with a band. I don't need to make money at it. But we could record my songs (or yours, too. other songwriters welcome). Post them and see what happens. I also would be okay with playing covers. I don't mind that at all. I'm sure if you're like me, we could throw together a few sets with the standards from our childhood and play some bars here, soon. I think once spring rolls around, next season may be a really good one. Drop me a line. Worst case, it's always good to meet other musicians. I don't care about age, gender, anything like that. As long as you can tolerate an old guitar nerd, you're my kind of people. I could honestly see this as a bunch of young musicians who need a songwriter who will hang back and let you be the rock stars. Or could be a collaboration of older musicians like me, taking one last swing at it.
