The 6TH Annual Kick Addiction Fundraiser in loving memory of Bradley A. Semon, will be on Sunday, December 12TH, 2021. The 6TH Annual Kick Addiction Fundraiser in loving memory of Bradley A. Semon, who lost his battle on July 28, 2016, will be on December 12TH, 2021. The fundraiser will be held at The Academy for Martial Arts in Orangeburg.  This year, we are excited to announced that the monies raised will go to Rockland Recovery Homes. Rockland Recovery Homes is a lifesaving organization with the mission to support persons in recovery from a substance use disorder by improving their access to safe, stable residences with peer and community support. This type of housing is a vital part of the recovery process. Rockland Recovery Homes is a community organization that needs community support to succeed. In 2018, the reported number of people who died was 68,500, a little under the 72,000 people who died in 2017 from Opioids.  Overdose was the number one cause of death in people under the age of 50 in 2017.  We need to, as a community, raise awareness that addiction is not for the poor, the uneducated, the homeless...also, you don’t need to be an addict to overdose.  We have all heard the stories of a teenager taking a party drug and they never woke up. We need to educate our kids that they have no idea what is in the pill that someone is giving them. That one pill could kill them.  Addiction is not something that just happens to another family- it can happen to anyone.  The Academy for Martial Arts is more than a Martial Arts School, we are Martial Arts Family. We strive to give our family members the tools to be a little bit better every day by using Martial Arts in ways that are completely out of the box. Yes, self defense is important, but Self Discipline, Self Control, Focus, Honesty, Integrity, Humiliy, Courtesy, Tenacity and building a Non-Quiting Spirit are integral parts of self defense and every day life. If we can not control ourselves, we ca not control anything else.Spots are limited and event registration will automatically close as soon as spots are filled.
