Let's talk monarchs...and swallowtails and milkweed and moths and winter sowing! Let's share our stories and seeds! Mount Prospect Monarchs is a Facebook group dedicated to the monarchs in our midst!  We work to create and expand habitats that are welcoming to our butterfly friends! Many members in this group gather monarch eggs and raise them indoors. Why? Because left on their own, fewer than 5% of monarch eggs will make it to adulthood...and it’s a fun...and it’s amazing to observe a tiny egg hatch, grow by roughly 2000%, pupate and finally eclose from its chrysalis into a beautiful butterfly. Mount Prospect Monarchs is the proud recipient of the 2019 Beautify Mount Prospect Shining Star Award!
