The Freedom Affair is a 9 piece soul juggernaut from Kansas City, MO led by three powerhouse vocalists. Born out of a meeting between Chris Hazelton and Dave Brick, The Freedom Affair formed in 2017 with a vision to write original soul music inspired by the traditions of the genre’s past with a universal message that looks toward the future. Basement jam sessions between Brick (drums), Hazelton (bass), and guitarists Cole Bales and Branden Moser sparked the groundwork for the band’s first few tracks. Paula Saunders, Misha Roberts and Seyko Groves joined shortly after, fulfilling the vision of a three female led group, each with the power to lead and each with unbound love to step back when it’s time for the other to shine. Rounding out the band’s sound, Brett Jackson (Saxophone) and Pete Carroll (Trumpet) bring a wealth of experience, style and ability to an airtight horn section that can shift between explosiveness and gentle harmonies at the drop of a hat. The Freedom Affair’s live shows have proven to be soul-stirring, transformative events, moving audiences both physically and emotionally to joy, tears, and elation. Crowds rave about the fireworks these folks bring to the stage. Also Featuring: The Royalettes VC Kansas City’s premiere female DJ collective, spinning all vinyl in the OG Ship bar room. Royalettes Vinyl Club have been hosting dance parties in Kansas City since their formation in 2019. Members Racey Roller, Little Queenie, & Lil Red light up the dance floor with psych, soul, funk, & disco to keep you moving. They play everything from classics to rarities and are known for their retro set lists and bold style. All vinyl, all fun! COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS ~~~Updated COVID-19 protocols allow us to go maskless inside in the evening. We will no longer accept negative tests. Proof of vaccination is required of everyone after 5:00pm~~~ After 5:00pm all guests are required to provide the following : -A vaccination card, showing fully vaccinated status; OR -A photo of your vaccination card, showing fully vaccinated status; OR -A digital vaccine record from third-party apps; AND -All guests will be required to show a government issued photo ID that matches the name on your vaccine card. -Masks are recommended and appreciated but not required. -No minors are permitted on premises after 5:00pm. -Our alley entrance will not be available.
