Description
WAKEFIELD, MA — Local woman is running Monday's Boston Marathon for a special cause.
Samantha Gasbarro is going 26.2 miles for the Boston Children's Hospital Miles for Miracles team, specifically for Serafina.
The 2-year-old girl was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot at 18 weeks gestation and had open heart surgery when she was just 2 months old. That surgery saved her life.
Serafina is "now a happy, healthy, thriving two year old," Gasbarro said on her fundraising site, where you can make a donation and learn more about her story.
As of Sunday afternoon, Gasbarro was less than $1,000 away from hitting her $7,500 fundraising goal.
