TAMPA, FL — CareerSource Tampa Bay (CSTB) and Bay Area Manufacturers Association (BAMA) will host an in-person expo where attendees are able to speak to local manufacturers about their products, how they are made and learn about current job openings in the manufacturing field in the region. The expo will take place on Thursday, Oct. 14, from 1 to 6 p.m. at CareerSource Tampa Bay, 9215 N. Florida Ave., Tampa. This event will showcase products made in the Tampa Bay area. Manufacturers from across the Bay area will have an opportunity to exhibit and present what they manufacture in our region. "You'll experience firsthand the large variety of products made right here in our area, from medical components to food and beverage items to aerospace parts," said Beth Galic, executive director of the BAMA. "Florida has a strong, skilled manufacturing workforce which represents 5 percent of the state's workforce. About 307,500 people in Florida are employed by manufacturers. The average annual salary for a Florida manufacturing employee is $68,000, about 72 percent higher than the statewide average private sector wage." "The manufacturing field in the Tampa Bay area is continuously growing with many career opportunities," said Kay Jefferson, vice president of business and community development with CSTB. "I am excited that CSTB and BAMA are partnering to showcase the vast opportunities and resources that are available to the Tampa Bay area."
