Good day, neighbors! It's me again, Gabriela Couvillion, your host of the San Antonio Daily. First, today's weather: Mostly sunny. High: 87 Low: 73. Here are the top stories in San Antonio today: Aaron Hines, 'The Voice' contestant from San Antonio, spoke with San Antonio Living on Friday about his experience on the show, his inspiration, "and the support he's received from our community and beyond." His interpretation of Heartbreak Anniversary "wowed all 4 judges" and earned him "one of the season's last four-chair turns." The first to hit his button was John Legend, who told him "I love your voice. You just sounded like you knew what you wanted to do with the song. You went out there and executed it beautifully." In the end, Aaron chose Team Kelly because he said "I feel she got me, artistically." Listen to Aaron's beautiful voice on Monday and 7 p.m. and best of luck to him! (WOAI) There's a new way to appreciate San Antonio's food culture. The 'Art of SA Eats' exhibit at the McNay Art Museum is sure to please foodie and art lovers alike, as the works of five local artists are all focused on food. Three of the artists interviewed were Steven Cromwell, Eva Marengo Sanchez and Ben Ortiz. Cromwell's miniatures are very detailed and depict familiar eateries in town, as well as mini paleta carts and food trucks. Sanchez's blown-up oil paintings of half a dozen conchas look so real, you'd think it was photography. She visited bakeries in town and bought a "concha" from each, examining them closely before painting them. That helped her capture the fine details and vibrant colors of the delicious pastry. Ortiz's oil paintings of restaurant and hotel signs in San Antonio "capture the creative shapes, bold colors and unlit strips of neon bulbs which give them a different flavor at night." Enjoy the art show, which runs through Jan. 23, but don't go hungry or you might want to eat the art! (KENS5.com) After a long day of work, get ready to rock at the Three Star Bar, now open to the public! The "new bar by Boulevardier Group owner Jeret Peña, Chef Josh Calderon and notable San Antonio bartender Rob Gourlay" had its grand opening on Fri., Oct. 8. The restaurant, which seats about 140 guests, offers tasty comfort food and "a full bar with a focus on high quality handcrafted cocktails." If you're ready for a drink and some tasty food, visit the Three Star Bar located at 521 E. Grayson St., and have a rockin' good time! (flicksandfood.com) Lots of good things are always happening in San Antonio, but 5 stories recently caught the attention of many in the Alamo City: 1. San Antonio was ranked #6 among top U.S. cities by Travel + Leisure magazine! Local resorts and 1 hotel received top rankings as well. 2. Willie Nelson gave a live concert from his 71st album That's Life in honor of Frank Sinatra. The San Antonio Fall Home & Garden Show was also a big event attended by many. 3. This month of October there are 9 art exhibits in town and plenty of artistic opportunities and creative celebrations for all! 4. Texas billionaire, Alice Walton and her family once again reigned as the world's richest family, according to Bloomburg! 5. San Antonio street artists proudly created a "heritage-inspired" mural at the Pearl. As he was growing up, Carabajal noticed that there were no wildlife shows that featured Hispanics. When asked about his inspiration for the show, he said ""I started this because my kids were watching YouTube and watching content that was inadequate to really, truly educate the community about wildlife. Whether it was people getting stung, or chased or fail videos, that's not a respectful way to highlight wildlife."He hopes that the next generation of Hispanics will be inspired and "can make a career out of this."
