Learn how to make beautiful letters in a unique workshop that centers around learning proper technique beginning with penmanship and progressing into brush lettering. Letters and Paints has created a very detailed way of learning brush lettering that is unique to any other studio based on the calligraphy program through the International Penmen association and extensive study on learning penmanship techniques and teaching. We start off all of our calligraphy students with our Basics which is centered around penmanship technique and translates to all forms of art and calligraphy lettering, including brush lettering and Fauxligraphy, as well as traditional dip pen calligraphy. You will learn the techniques of pressure, angle and direction of your writing instrument, types of papers and pens to consider, as well as the types of lettering. We also offer calligraphy and watercolor classes in other locations (check the events tab) – including watercolor classes in Milwaukee, calligraphy and watercolor classes in Madison WI, and we are expanding to offer calligraphy classes in Chicago. We also have our art retreats at Palmquist Farm that happen twice a year. Check the events tab for our next art retreat at Palmquist Farm! Supplies are included in the cost of this workshop! We also offer complimentary refreshments and snacks. This workshop is open to all ages. However, anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult in our studio for the duration of this class. Some of the workshops include ceramics, watercolor, calligraphy, crafts, home decor, needle felting, stained glass, mosaics, painting, drawing, collage, textile dyeing, concrete leaf casting, knitting, crochet and sewing.
