Session One Encouraging Independence in our Children by Heather Underhill Teaching our kids how to work independently helps them build confidence and life skills. Let’s talk about how to build more independence in each stage of development. I'm a Little Crazy; My Kids Are Too Discussion Group Session by Angel Lambert Homeschool is hard on a good day, and these last 18 months have added to that exponentially. Kids are cooped up. You're at your wit's end. It feels like the world is on fire and your family is just watching it burn. Let's talk about that- not about masks or vaccines or shutdowns or polarizing politics- just the health of our families' emotions. This will be a safe place to receive understanding and encouragement. You are not alone and were never meant to be. Applying the 10 Commandments in Your Homeschool by Robin Helzer This workshop will give an overview of how to apply the 10 commandments in our homeschools. We know these laws well, but do we know how to apply them? How can we honor God through his law in our home setting? This discussion is not about how to teach the commandments to your children, but how to live them in the everyday. Let’s have a refreshing look at God’s Law with new eyes. Course Corrections by Rebecca Fairbairn Have you ever felt like you were drowning as a homeschool mom? Have you ever gone on the Internet late at night searching for a job for yourself and a school for you kids? I have, more than once. When things get tough, and it feels as though we have lost our way, how do we Correct our Course to steer our homeschools in the direction toward success? Come to this seminar to find Encouragement, Hope, and Specific Ideas for making your own Course Corrections as we delve into the Behavioral, Habitual, and Academic depths of the homeschool sea. This session is appropriate for all home educators. Session TwoCreating Transcripts by Rebecca Fairbairn After a student finishes high school, it is often desirable to have a summary of what was accomplished. Although it is not required by Ohio law, many homeschool parents create Transcripts for their graduating seniors as a way to formally show others what they have achieved in their high school years. There is no right or wrong way to design a Transcript. However, since Transcripts are the “Love Language” of colleges and other organizations such as the military, it behooves homeschooled students to have Transcripts that look similar to those given out by the public and private schools, so that their course of study is understood quickly and well. It is possible to write a Transcript your child's senior year, but it is much less stressful to create it early and add to it as you go along through the four years. In addition to Transcripts, some colleges may request Course Descriptions, so we will also go over how to write them. This session will be most relevant to those with kids aged 12+, but all are welcome. Open Forum: Q & A by Veteran Homeschool Moms Bring your questions and concerns and we can help one another.
