Description

Good Bones: A Tour of DU’s First Mass Timber Building, The Burwell Center for Career Achievement (Presented by SAR+) Join SAR+ for a tour of DU’s first mass timber building, The Burwell Center for Career Achievement. Opened in the fall of 2020, this three-story, 23,000-square-foot facility provides a mix of classroom space, faculty and administrative offices, and indoor-outdoor forums. During the tour we will share specifics about this project’s design approach, the first in Denver to use cross-laminated timber shear walls and shaft walls. We will also share insights into the collaborative design process—which is critical to keeping mass timber projects streamlined and efficient. Lake|Flato led the design of the LEED Platinum v4.1 net-zero-ready project and SAR+ provided local design, coordination, and construction support. (This year's Denver Design Week's Title Sponsor is The IDC Building, a modern 60,000 square ft. showcase of exclusive luxury residential and commercial design showrooms serving designers, architects, trade professionals, and luxury homeowners. Our Media Sponsor is Modern In Denver.)   Modern In Denver is Colorado's leading design magazine celebrating commercial and residential architecture, art, interiors, and our creative community.
