Description
Peaches is a beautiful 12 yr old boa and about 6 feet long. Several years ago his behavior started becoming erratic, he would strike at his own shadow at times, has tried to eat himself, and attacked me. Other times he is the calm snake I have known and loved for years. I took him to the University of Florida vet when I first noticed the behavior change. They ran many tests and concluded he has no parasites/bacterial infections/virus/body inclusion disease or any other infection. The vet found that he has a genetic condition that does not show until later in life, which why he was fine for so long. The condition makes him similar to an alzheimer's patient.
I have spent the last few years doing my best to care for him. I'm afraid that I am unable to give him the care he needs anymore. He is a great eater and enjoys medium-large frozen thawed rats and is usually quite active throughout the day in his enclosure. I currently house him in an enclosure that is about 9ft tall, 4ft wide, 3 ft deep. It is very important to me that he continue to have this enclosure so that he has plenty of space. He is not safe to handle regularly so he needs the space as he loves crawling around. Unless something of similar size is provided for him I would like the enclosure to go with him. I love Peaches dearly and it breaks my heart to rehome him, but I want him to have the best possible care.
I am only willing to rehome Peaches to a person with experience with snakes and who understand that he is not for breeding. I am charging a small rehoming fee, please text/email me for more information about Peaches and the rehoming fee.
