New Hampshire Justice of the Peace (NHJPA) Educational Meeting (Hybrid)
"When They and They Get Married... How Pronouns and Welcoming Language Can Make or Break Their Special Day"Keynote Speaker: Amanda Gerken-Nelson is a Lutheran minister currently serving as the Executive Director of Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries, a national nonprofit whose mission is to organize queer seminarians and rostered ministers, confront barriers and systemic oppression, and activate queer ideas and movements in the Lutheran Church. Amanda and her wife Tasha live in Portland, ME with their nine-month old son, Karsten.
Join us as Amanda educates us on the people and identities that make up the LGBTQIA+ acronym and help us understand how we can be more inclusive in our language and engagements with the couples we serve in the marriage process. This will include information on current language and terminology so we can improve our communication and show couples that we are informed and welcoming.
The agenda will include a demonstration of a Ceremony Inclusion and the latest available information on Laws and Procedures will be presented during the meeting.
Feel free to invite a JP friend.
