Food Facility - Sanitation and Receiving JOB DESCRIPTION Description of Position: Completes a wide variety of sanitation tasks, receives ingredients, maintains warehouses in orderly and sanitary condition and trains staff to follow all procedures to meet Food Safety and Sanitation requirements, assigns duties to other sanitors in the department to complete the monthly Master Cleaning List. Job involves deep cleaning and sanitation of the facility and some production equipment, receiving ingredients, warehouse rotation, use of power cleaning equipment, working at heights, simple mechanical tools, assists with monitoring and maintaining plant pest control plan as implemented by PCO, operates, fork lift, pallet jack, high lift Position in Company Structure: Reports To: Production Manager, Food Safety Manager Knowledge Skills Experience • English literacy – read, write, speak (bilingual Spanish preferred) • High School Education – or equivalent • Familiarity with using hand tools and simple power tools • Organized – keeping track of tools, equipment and rotating inventory • Manages paperwork (files all information daily and timely) • Ability to work from task list unsupervised • Cooperative when working with others • Follows written procedures • CA Driver’s License Responsibilities • Completes Master Sanitation Schedule conforming to Food Safety and Sanitation requirements which keeps all food production areas sanitary, secure, pest-free and safe for manufacturing food. Maintains daily sanitation records. • Schedules and assigns duties to department personnel according to company budget guidelines • Coordinates sanitation schedule with production departments (floor washing, walk-ins, pan washer, high area cleaning, etc.) • Receives raw materials according to company protocols, labelling, rotating, communicating to vendors receiving requirements (e.g. hair net use, proper paperwork, etc) • Stocks warehouse upon receipt of goods for proper inventory management • Keeps warehouse and dock organized and sanitary for safety, inspections, inventory management (trash, no scraps, towels, cardboard, trash, empty pallets, ingredient spills, equipment, random placement of pallets in walkways, isles, ramps, doorways, etc. – keep it clear and clean) • Plans with production personnel to rotate ingredients and supplies according to production needs in a FIFO manner • Assists in shipping of palletized goods from facility • Communicates any back-ordered ingredients or supplies to production managers • Holds or refuses unauthorized ingredients, supplies, or deliveries in designated areas and reports to production management immediately • Orders department supplies • Reviews and reports performance of department personnel to production manager. • Trains department personnel in all SSOP’s and Food Safety and Sanitation principles • Attends and reports to inspector during annual Food Safety Audit or during any other regulatory inspection as required • Daily monitoring of walk-in temperatures (refrigerators and freezers) • Eyes and ears of sanitation • Supervises EcoLabs (PCO - pest control operator) and maintains records of pest management system and activity. Reports sightings immediately to Food Safety Manager • Reports anything Food Safety and Sanitation related promptly to Food Safety Manager • Keeps all santation equipment in working order and all sanitation supplies stocked for use • Reports any malfunctioning equipment to maintenance department immediately and follows up on repairs • Supervises all employee safety protocols for department personnel. Makes recommendations to production manager for safety improvements or needed equipment. Essential Physical Requirements To perform the critical functions of this job, employee must be able to: • push / pull pallet jack • reach above shoulder height • climb ladders / transfer to tops of ovens, rooms • perform tasks while standing on a ladder • work at heights above 8 ft • lift and/or manipulate large objects weighing up to 50 lbs or more • stand, squat, crawl or otherwise work in confined or awkward spaces • remove rodents from premises (dead or alive) • manipulate power cleaning equipment (power washer, floor washer, vacuum) • organize and transport tools and chemicals to work site (buckets, brooms, mops, etc.) • cleaning kitchen grease traps • drive fork lift
