Description

Walking tours offer the opportunity to explore the hidden places and often overlooked histories of the communities we call home. Since 1906, Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society (NCHGS) has collected, preserved, and showcased American history made in Northampton County. Hosted by NCHGS, walking tours offer locals and visitors the opportunity to explore the hidden places and often overlooked histories of the communities we call home. Get to know Northampton County by immersing yourself in the diversity of our neighborhoods. Discover the little-known facts of our country's rich history. Downtown Historic Walking Tours are offered every Saturday at 2:00pm. Pre-registration is required. Tickets are free for NCHGS members and $10 for non-members. Those registering as members must present their membership card at the Visitor Services desk at check-in. Tours may be cancelled for inclement weather. Please call the Sigal Museum at 610-253-1222 with any questions. NCHGS works to share the stories of Northampton County’s past to encourage personal reflection, community dialogue, and an understanding of history’s impact on our lives. We use the important lessons from our history to offer the community dynamic tours, family programs for diverse populations, thought-provoking exhibitions, and special events. We provide student and adult research opportunities at the Jane S. Moyer Library and the NCHGS Archives. We preserve the Bachmann Publick House, the Mixsell Illick House, and the Jacob Nicholas House. We care for the Kressler Memorial Garden and an outstanding museum collection at the Sigal Museum. We also publish books and newsletters, offer curriculum-based educational tours to students, and custom group tours and talks. Join us to make history come to life!
