Good Saturday morning Connecticut, The sun will go missing for the next few days, and we'll see off-and-on rain on Sunday and Monday. Saturday will remain dry until late tonight and then rain is forecast at times on Sunday where we could see a quarter of an inch. Some more rain is expected on Monday too. A delicate and complicated rescue On Friday afternoon, the Rocky Hill Fire Department was called to a home to assist EMS with removing a patient from a challenging location. Upon arrival, Assistant Chief Kromas found an injured man on top of the side entry roof to a single family residence. The man was suffering from a leg injury. Deputy Chief Gentile and Chief Garrahy determined that an aerial rescue was needed to remove the patient. Upon arrival, Engine-3 was positioned at the rear of the house and its aerial ladder was used as a crane to access and then lower the victim, who had been placed in a Stokes basket for stabilization. "This was an intense, low frequency-high risk operation, where each member's training allowed all involved to safely complete the rescue," authorities said. The incident occurred when a person cleaning equipment in a lab inadvertently mixed two chemical substances, causing the container to rupture and creating an odor in that fourth-floor room and nearby, officials said. The building was fully evacuated as a precaution. One person was evaluated on site, but no injuries were reported, and the building did not sustain damage. The Gant Science Complex reopened around 6:30 p.m. except for the fourth floor, where UConn Environmental Health & Safety officials remained on site to clean and clear the lab. The fourth floor was reopened later Friday evening, but that lab will remain closed throughout the weekend. Helping an injured officer Several months ago, Madison Police Sgt.
