Press release from the City of San Clemente: 10/08/2021 11:45 AM FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 10/8/2021 SAN CLEMENTE PIER AND SHORELINE CLOSED TO FISHING California Department of Fish and Wildlife releases updated directives 10/8/2021…San Clemente, California… The City of San Clemente continues to monitor activities related to the oil spill off the coast of Huntington Beach, and work with Unified Command. On October 7, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) extended the fisheries closure 18 miles offshore down to the southern border of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) – see attached map. This extension includes the San Clemente Municipal Pier and San Clemente shoreline. Therefore, effective immediately, fishing and shellfish harvesting will be closed from the pier and off the shore on San Clemente city beaches.
