Press release from the Plainfield Park District: 2021-10-08 October 7, 2021 For Immediate Publication: Springbank Trail Extension Opens Plainfield, IL — Mayor Argoudelis and the Village Board, Plainfield Park District, and Riverfront Foundation celebrated the completion of several portions of the new Springbank Trail system on October 5, 2021. The new pathway includes paved trail segments from Renwick Road into Mather Woods, a path linking Mather Woods and Settlers' Park, and the extension of the trail at the Riverfront south of the pedestrian bridge. This phase of the project was completed by Avanti Properties Group and includes approximately 4,200 feet of trail. Future extensions of the Springbank Trail include underpasses beneath the CN railroad to connect the Riverfront and Settlers' Park and an additional trail segment south of Renwick Road. As Mayor Argoudelis commented during the ribbon cutting, "This project is an example of the progress we can make in Plainfield when we all work together. It is so important that one of our unspoiled natural areas remains in the core of our Village for everyone to enjoy at no cost to our residents. This is an important part of our growth – to provide natural green space to escape from the world for a bit."
