Elaine Pagels Group at BHHS Chicago Holds 4th Annual Food Drive

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago is pleased to announce the Fourth Annual Elaine Pagels Group Food Drive to benefit the Downers Grove Area FISH Pantry is underway through October 11th. Drop off non-perishable food items at the Downers Grove office at 5150 Main Street from 9-11. Donations can also be accepted at the BHHS Chicago Hinsdale office located at 35 S. Washington or the BHHS Chicago La Grange office located at 518 W. Burlington between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. BHHS Chicago agents will load all of the donations into a Boerman’s Moving and Storage truck that was kindly donated to transport all of the donations the morning of October 12th to FISH Pantry. Downers Grove Area FISH Pantry is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization which has served local communities since 1969. Their services include a food pantry, clothes closet, financial assistance, and transportation. Downers Grove Area FISH Pantry is dedicated to helping improve the quality of life for the people in our community. They strive to provide a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for clients and volunteers alike. Although DuPage County is the second-richest county in Illinois, more than 1 in every 10 adults is projected to be food insecure (source: Impact DuPage). The FISH Pantry helps hundreds of families and individuals each year from Darien, Downers Grove, Lisle, Westmont, and Woodridge. Terri Doney, vice president and managing broker of the firm’s Downers Grove, Hinsdale and La Grange offices, said, “Elaine and her group do such a great job of putting this event together each year, and each year they hope to top what they were able to donate to the FISH Pantry the previous year with the generous support of residents from Downers Grove, Hinsdale, La Grange and the surrounding communities. I’m proud of Elaine for putting this event together and making it such a success. I thank you everyone who donated or volunteered their time to this food drive.” Elaine Pagels added, “Donations are being made in honor of Linda Kunze, former president of the Downers Grove Downtown Management Corp who passed away four years ago while helping me plan the inaugural food drive. I think everyone agrees that Downers Grove owes her a debt of gratitude for making our downtown area so vibrant. My hope is to make our collection for FISH Pantry greater each year and thank everyone for their generosity.” The most needed and requested items are: canned tuna, canned Vienna sausages, canned chili, corned beef hash, beef stew, canned pasta with meat, canned pasta without meat, white rice, brown rice, dried pinto beans, dried lentils, Ramen, plain oatmeal, strawberry jam, pancake mix, refried beans, cream of chicken soup, tomato paste, chocolate cake mix, Jello, Jello pudding mix, canned fruit, Jiffy cornbread mix, feminine hygiene pads, bar soap, toothpaste, paper towels, ketchup, cooking oil barbecue sauce, crackers, cookies, baby diapers, especially sizes 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, toilet bowl cleaner, sponges, all-purpose cleaner, dish soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, Kleenex and financial contributions.
