NEW YORK CITY — A face mask dispute turned violent Friday when a security guard at a Manhattan Apple store was stabbed by a customer after he was asked to put on a mask, according to reports.
Police responded to the Apple Store on West 14th Street around 6:20 pm, NYPD Lt. Thomas Antonetti told CNN.
The victim was a 37-year-old male. His identity was not publicly disclosed, CNN reported.
The security guard was stabbed once in the left arm and once in the forehead with a knife, police told NBC News. The man then fled into a nearby subway station.
The security guard was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to multiple reports.
Witnesses told the New York Daily News that the unidentified man had confronted the guard when he was asked to put on a mask.
