Found Black Cat?

Somewhat friendly female black cat, I have seen her around for the better part of a year but today she followed us inside our house. She's petite, and has a smattering of white fur on her chest. Wondering if she belongs to anybody, or if she was once a pet that was left behind. She's possibly stray, but friendly enough to not be feral. We let her back outside in case she does belong to anybody, so that she can get back home. However, of she comes in again we're planning to take her to check if she's microchipped. Would hate to take in a pet that is well-loved by a family already, but if she is truly stray she'd find a home with us.
