Wrecking Yard: Parts Puller/Mechanic

Economy Auto Parts is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) parts puller for our growing yard in NE Portland. Since opening over 20 years ago, we have prided ourselves in provided quality used parts to our loyal customers across the PNW and US and are looking for someone to join our family owned and managed team. We are seeking a candidate who is motivated, dependable, and has mechanical abilities and automotive knowledge. This position starts with a minimum one-week probation period (5 full business days). During this time, we will be reviewing work ethic and abilities; after the one-week period a decision will be made whether or not you will be a good long-term fit. Essential Job Duties: • Safely maneuvering around the yard. Must have forklift experience or ability to quickly learn. • Finding/retrieving parts • Packaging parts for delivery and/or shipping • Delivering parts when needed • Pull and prep vehicles for the scrap yard • Learn how to properly inventory vehicles for front desk input • Cover front office vacations if needed (computer skills a huge plus) Job Requirements • Lift up to 75 lbs. without assistance • Self-motivated and dependable • Basic computer skills • Work a safe and efficient manner • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours shifts • Identify and pull the right item(s) and quantity • Mechanical abilities • Ability to handle outdoor elements such as heat and cold (we work outside A LOT) Compensation/Benefits: • Starting pay between $15-$20 an hour depending on experience with opportunity for pay increase and bonuses after 12 months. • $200 cash bonus after completion of one-week probationary period. • Holiday pay: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. • Holiday/Christmas bonus • Paid and unpaid sick days • Paid time off Applicant must be willing to submit to a criminal background check prior to starting work.
