Join friends of the Bybee Lakes Victory Garden for a garden work day and celebration. Sign-up & join on the journey, harvest! All are invited to join community in action as we improve and enjoy the Bybee Lakes Victory Garden. Bring your garden tools, good spirit and great energy as we'll have opportunity to expand the path network, install native plants, work/harvest the garden and more. Outdoor COVID protocols apply and registration / check-in required. VetREST & Helping Hands Reentry Outreach Centers (two area 501(c)(3) non-profits) have partnered to create a Victory Garden at the Bybee Lakes Hope Center (BLHC) that provides hope & healing for homeless veterans, families and participants. Opened in October 2020, BLHC transforms the never-occupied, 155,000 square foot Wapato Corrections Facility into a trauma-informed, data-driven transitional housing facility. Our nearly 3 acre garden launched in the spring of 2021 with the planting of over 170 trees and three garden beds with tangible and physical harvest for the anticipated 4,900 annual participants (typically 10% are veterans) that will be transiting through the center each year. Connect and volunteer in the garden! Join friends and let's build hope / opportunity together. Arrivals begin at 10am with 10:15am Welcome Remarks & Work group breakouts. All check-in on arrival at parking lot.
