Guitarist+ wanted for psych/prog rock album

Description

Hello, We are a band looking to get back at things since covid. Our first album was psych/prog rock (think electric guitars, bass, keys, flute, vox, two drum kits). Our second album is going to be more funky folk/space-pirate shanty music (think acoustic guitar, 12 string acoustic, electric guitar, bass, harmonium, clarinet, flute, latin percussion, drum kit, maybe some keys). I play keys/random instruments and write a lot of the material, and we have two guitarists and a drummer. Unfortunately the two guitarists aren't as available lately since moving/job changes. They are still very interested, but I need some additional help writing and translating parts to guitar. I've got a very clear idea of how best to optimize a collaborative, quick, fun, and driven writing/recording process this time around. So I'm looking for that elusive guitarist friend who can interpret my ideas for guitar. I can be flexible in how you need to learn the ideas (sheet music, recordings, play along, etc), but it would be ideal if you had some background in theory or notation. I'm looking for someone who is interested in composition and writing so that this will be a collaborative experience. Trying to tread that line of being serious about it while also having fun. My goal is to finish this album quickly and in order to do that we've had to iron out the workflow. Looking for a commitment to regular get-togethers, whether it is a full band practice, or a smaller writing session. Think weekly, give or take. Ideally you want to help write the music--I like equal parts jamming and composing. Counterpoint is dope. Discussions on compositional/production decisions are fun. I really want a collaboration more than anything else. Also looking to fill a bass role at some point, so that is a bonus if you also like writing for bass. To give you an idea of my/our background: -late 20s/early 30s -background in music tech -play woodwinds, piano/keys, learning drums/guitar -we practice in a house with a cat and dog if you have allergies -my recently listened to music: incredible string band, john denver, king gizz, bibio, g. weller, the books, fleet foxes, altin gün, jacco gardner, etc... Unfortunately this isn't a paying gig--I'm looking for someone who is equally passionate about making music and wants to hang out, record an album, and eventually play shows. I'm located in Bed-Stuy near Herbert von King park. If any of this interests you, shoot me an email and we can chat. Send me some recordings or whatever you can. I can reciprocate with mixes/demos. Cheers, ian
