Zlatomir is the gold medalist in the most recent Tchaikovsky Competition. Considered by all to be the preeminent international classical music competition, the then 20-year-old Zlatomir accomplished the extraordinary feat of winning first prize against the leading young cellists of up to 32 years old from throughout the world. Having performed as soloist with SPM four times since the age of eleven, Zlatomir, a native of Westborough, is a favorite son of SPM who admirably represents SPM’s mission to support highly deserving young artists. He will present Elgar’s deeply nuanced and universally revered Cello Concerto. William Dawson's Negro Folk Symphony, recently praised by The New York Times for its warmth, its brilliant orchestration, and its significance as an important milestone in the establishment of an American symphonic canon. The program opens with William Walton’s spirited Crown Imperial March. Symphony Pro Musica has performed in Acton, Bolton, Boston, Clinton, Fitchburg, Hudson, Leominster, Lenox, Pittsfield, Sheffield, Southborough, Westborough, Whitinsville, and Mechanics Hall in Worcester. Throughout its history, SPM has showcased area instrumentalists and gifted young soloists, performing under the guidance of founder and Music Director Mark Churchill. Through our close association with area choruses and vocal soloists, we have been able to offer a rich repertoire of opera and choral music in addition to instrumental works. We have also collaborated with ballet companies, and with the drama, music, and art programs of local school systems. Symphony Pro Musica Mark Churchill
