Guest instructor Matt Mele will lead our October workshop on Sung (Song) releasing, one of the principles of Tai Chi.
We are very excited to welcome Matt Mele as our guest instructor for our October workshop. Matt has been a Tai Chi practitioner and instructor for 20 years, specializing in Old Yang Style Tai Chi, from a different lineage than the most popularized versions of Yang Style Tai Chi under Yang Chengfu. He used to run Silent Dragon Kung Fu and Tai Chi in West Haven, CT.
Releasing / Sung (Song) - The Doorway to Internal Power.
Sung (Song) is one of the vital principles of Tai Chi, most commonly translated as relaxing. However, releasing is more than just "relaxing": it is in many ways the doorway to all other skills in Tai Chi. In this workshop we will explore how to let go of mental and physical tension - and perhaps more importantly, how to transform that "letting go" process into groundedness, energy and power.
Our monthly workshops are designed for ALL Levels. Beginning students can jump start their Tai Chi study by gaining familiarity of important fundamental concepts. Advanced students can improve their Tai Chi by deepening their understanding of Tai Chi principles.
