Description
The Rosales Sisters' Scholarship Presents, Comedy Night & Fundraiser with Frankie Marcos! Join us for a night of laughter and giving back! Frankie Marcos brings the funny to Oakstop in Oakland on October 23rd, from 6-8pm. This will be your chance to donate to the Rosales Sisters' Scholarship, while also giving back to the Latinx community! This event is hosted by Johanna Masis! Canvas art will be presented by Maceo Montoya! Two poets will be opening the show: Ricardo Tavarez, will be joining us to read poetry and to play music. Ricardo Tavarez is an arts organizer and educator from Oakland, CA. Ricardo grew up in Watsonville, CA and was influenced by the labor history and political activism of the region. Olga Rosales Salinas, joins us to read from her debut collection of poetry and prose, La Llorona, that will be on sale at the venue. DJ Jay Beezy will provide the vibe! To JayBee, djing is storytelling. A good mix will create a plot, build up the suspense, come in strong with the climax and finish with a smooth transition. He says, “At the end of the night, I want people to say; ‘That was the best story I ever heard’.” About the Host: Johanna Masis was born in Nicaragua and raised in the Bay. She has been working with and advocating for youth & families for 20 years. About the Comic: Frankie Marcos started stand up in San Jose, California. Now based in Los Angeles, but working at Comedy Clubs across the country. The Comedy Store in Hollywood, Punchline San Francisco, Comic Strip NYC, to name a few.
