Description

Ford House tour and luncheon meeting Celebrate the holiday season with fellow Phi Betes at the historic Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, located on 87 beautifully landscaped acres on the shore of Lake St. Clair. 10:30 AM - Noon, Optional Tour of Ford House: Edsel and Eleanor Ford commissioned renowned architect Albert Kahn to design their mansion in the mid-1920s. Interior decorative elements include antique panels, fireplaces, and a staircase from English Manor houses. The guided house tour will last 60 minutes and requires climbing stairs. If you want to tour the house, park adjacent to the Visitor Center where we will board a shuttle at 10:30 AM to drive through the estate to the Ford House. The shuttle will return us to the Visitor Center by noon. Noon - 1:30 PM, Lunch and Annual Meeting: Gather at noon in the St. Clair Room, located in the Administration Building across from the Visitor Center. We can mix and mingle prior to enjoying a buffet lunch featuring chicken, roasted potatoes, salad, and cherry crisp. Beginning at 1:00 PM, officers of the Greater Detroit Association will present annual reports and conduct the election of officers and other board members for 2022. As the highlight of our gathering, we will introduce Greater Detroit PBK's two scholarship recipients from the Irvin D. Reid Honors College at Wayne State University. Before leaving the Ford Estate, be sure to visit the beautiful new Visitor Center. In addition to a lovely gift shop, the center has a fascinating interactive exhibit about the Edsel and Eleanor Ford family.
