Press release from the City of West Palm Beach: 10/07/2021   Rep. Lois Frankel and Mayor Keith A. James Announce Currie Park Funding   WEST PALM BEACH, FL (October 7, 2021) – At a joint press conference, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-21) and West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James announced $1 million in new funding for Currie Park. The 13.6-acre park is located along the Intracoastal Waterway in the city's North End at 2400 N. Flagler Drive. The funding is made possible through the Congressionally mandated Land and Water Conservation Fund grant program.  This new funding will be used to install a new playground, landscaping, and lighting, build a kayak and canoe launch point, create a performance and event lawn, renovate a fishing pier, and update the parking area, waterfront area and trails in Currie Park. The funding will be applied toward the city's Currie Park Redevelopment Project. With its consultant, the city is developing the design for the park's future construction. The city is following up with the community to ensure the design reflects their input. "We are appreciative to Representative Lois Frankel and to the stewards of the Land and Water Conservation Fund grant program for the $1 million in funds for Currie Park," said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. "These funds will greatly support the city's future redesign of the Currie Park, so that this public space with so much potential continues to add to our city's social, economic, and environmental vibrancy."
