SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury police on Thursday charged a juvenile on multiple in connection to a fireworks incident at the Oct. 1 Lincoln-Sudbury High School football game, according to Chief Scott Nix. According to police, the juvenile set off a barrage of fireworks near the end of last Friday's home game against Fitchburg High School. The fireworks landed near the visiting team's bleachers and the field. Sudbury police executed a search warrant at the juvenile's home on Thursday. The person was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon and wanton destruction of property. "Early in the investigation, a potential suspect was developed through various sources with much of the initial information being evaluated [and] developed through rumors," Nix said in a Friday news release. "We sorted through numerous statements identifying pertinent witnesses with direct knowledge." The fireworks incident has altered Lincoln-Sudbury's football games. Superintendent Bella Wong moved this week's Acton-Boxborough game to 6 p.m. on Thursday, and attendance was limited to two parents or guardians per senior player, plus school staff and cheerleaders.
