Estimator / Millwork Northwood Design Partners is a San Francisco Bay Area design and fabrication company specializing in high-end Millwork and custom-made office furniture with over 40 years of history. We are seeking a qualified estimator for the preparation of Millwork. We are currently looking for Estimators to join us in Union City, California. You will be responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other documentation and preparing costs and labor estimates. You will also be responsible for receiving and replying to invitations to bid, soliciting bids from subcontractors, maintaining our bid schedule, and other day-to-day tasks. This role frequently interacts with engineering, office, and shop personnel. Primary Responsibilities: • Review plans of design and architectural drawings; prepare quantity take-offs on assigned projects. • Solicit vendors and subcontractor bids for assigned projects. • Follow approved estimating practices consistent with corporate guidelines. • Discusses and resolves any questions with subcontractors before submission of the final estimate. • Utilize Microsoft Excel program to calculate, record, and track estimates. • Accurately price change orders for ongoing work. • Upon request, attend client meetings to discuss estimates, answer any questions, resolve estimate issues, and do site visits when necessary. • Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs. Skills and Experience: • Solid background in estimating millwork, cabinetry, casework, and accessories. • Experience with design-software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, CabinetVision, or other such programs is a plus. • Knowledge of wood, plywood, moldings, metals, and custom products for high-end millwork packages, etc. • Excellent problem-solving skills Visit www.northwooddp.com / send your resume.
