Description

Walk a mile in the shoes of a low-income family. In the poverty simulation, you will experience the challenges faced by a family living on a low income in the United States. The simulation provides a glimpse into the structural barriers of poverty to transform participants’ perspectives about their own communities. These transformed perspectives inspire action toward positive community change. The mission of the Samford University School of Public Health is to prepare servant leaders through student-focused, workforce-oriented education by demonstrating God’s love through nurturing the emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual health of individuals and communities. At Samford, we value student engagement and outreach to enhance our community. By participating in this highly interactive poverty simulation, you will gain a unique perspective on your community and learn about ways you can respond to the Christian commandment to "love your neighbor as yourself."
