Come celebrate the best and Black in reporting, media management, and community activism on November 13th. Come and honor the best and Black in Philly media! The awards for exemplary reporting, media management, and community activism will be presented by PABJ on Saturday, November 13, 2021, 6 PM at Quorum - University City Science Center at 3675 Market St STE 400, Philadelphia, PA 19104. Gala proceeds support PABJ scholarships, professional journalism workshops and community programming. Tickets​ ​are​ ​$75 for PABJ members, $125 for non-members and ​​student ​tickets​ ​are $50.​​ ​Donors​ ​may​ ​sponsor​ ​a​ ​student​ ​for​ ​$50.​ ​The​ ​evening​ will ​includes​ ​a​ ​delicious​ ​hors d’oeuvres,​ ​an open cocktail bar,​ ​and​ ​the​ ​chance​ ​to​ ​meet​ ​and​ ​celebrate​ ​with​ ​our​ ​honorees.​ ​​Tickets​ ​can​ ​be purchased​ ​only on Eventbrite​. HISTORY  The Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists (PABJ) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1974 by journalists concerned about the lack of black journalists in the media and the dearth of coverage of the black community.     MISSION Strengthen ties among Black communities and Black media entrepreneurs. Sensitize the media to biased news coverage. Promote diversity and equity in newsrooms. Sponsor scholarships for black high school students interested in journalism. Honor excellence and achievement in the media. Offer workshops to enhance the skills of black journalists. Offer workshops that teach the community how to gain access to the media.- Expand job opportunities for black journalists.
