Needed NOW! Must have experience and be knowledgeable. YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE THIS WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 13TH FOR JUNK REMOVAL ON FREE DUMP DAY. FLAT FEE OF $180. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING A BUDDY TO HELP YOU AND PAY HIM OUT OF THE $180. MUST HAVE TRUCK FOR JUNK REMOVAL. The rest (approx. $320) is painting several small rooms, installing curtain hardware, remove gutter falling off the house, replace front door, hang curtains on porch, and a few more minor odds and ends, and for hiring a cleaner. More work needed in November. Need ONE person with whom I can develop trust and a great working relationship to complete all the work needed done before winter. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE READING THIS POST: In the past, so many unqualified people who didn't even have the basic equipment or the experience to do the job swamped me with more emails than I could possibly handle. I actually gave up and didn't hire anyone. So I must design this post to screen these people out. Consider this post as the first part of your application. That's why it is so long. SERIOUSLY. - paint without getting it where it's not supposed to be - have basic electrical knowledge so won't electrocute yourself or others - know your way around the city dump - don't have medical issues that prevent you from lifting furniture and appliances - own or have access to a LARGE truck for removing junk - know how to install basic curtain hardware - can replace doorknobs, light switch and electrical outlet covers - can put plastic on windows - own a well-stocked toolbox - know how to use small electric tools - pressure washer, wet/dry vac, drill, etc - perform basic tasks common to any handyman MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALITIES, SKILLS AND WORK ETHIC - Must have leadership skills to take authority over the project without constantly asking me questions or needing my constant instruction or oversight -I MOST LIKELY WILL NOT BE PRESENT SO YOU MUST TAKE CHARGE, FIGURE THINGS OUT AND GET THE JOB DONE. DON'T ASK ME WHAT OR HOW. THAT'S WHAT I'M PAYING YOU FOR. - Must be dependable, show up on time and adhere to schedule and plan - Must be able to work without supervision - Must be trustworthy and honest - Must be able to pass a background check - Must have 3 references. One can be a character reference. - Must be able to understand and speak English well enough to communicate clearly with me. It doesn't have to be perfect, grammatically correct or without an accent, just easily understandable and efficient. - Must be personable, friendly, able to offer advice, solutions, etc. Don't be shy! Jump right in! - Must be professional in manner and dress (You don't have to make a fashion statement, just be clean and put together) - Must be able to coordinate, schedule and plan with the cleaner - one job affects the other You qualified guys won't bat an eye about the above because you readily recognize it as he handyman's job description.
