Trucker Who Found Body In Secaucus Reveals Grim Discovery

SECAUCUS, NJ — A man who works as a truck driver said he was the person who first stumbled across the body Thursday afternoon in Secaucus, and he revealed new details about the grim discovery. He said he found the body underneath the New County Road bridge when he went to relieve himself in some bushes. He said the body was in a "skeletonized" state and looked "mummified." The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that Homicide Unit detectives were investigating the discovery of a body found in the area of Seaview Drive and New County Road. Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller also reported that Secaucus Police were on the scene. Starting at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, police officers could be seen combing a large, vacant grassy lot catty-corner from the Secaucus Junction train station. A spokeswoman for the county prosecutor said Friday that they were still waiting for the medical examiner to determine exactly the cause and manner of death, and added that they are checking all missing persons reports. She said that was all her office could say at this time. The body was found underneath the New County Road bridge, said Daniel Green, the truck driver who found the body. It is a high-traffic area with few buildings around and is mostly vacant lots and the train station. "I wanted to shed some light on this since I was the one that discovered the body," Green told Patch. "I own a transport trucking company and I was there delivering a car to (a private trucking company located in that area, name redacted at the request of the company)." A woman who works at the trucking company confirmed to Patch that a trucker had to use the bathroom in some bushes Thursday afternoon, that he found the body and told them, and her company immediately called 911.
