Re: hating on homeless

I do believe homeless people should be treated with respect, just like anyone else, but only when it is deserved. If people are trashing the streets, creating unsafe environments for others, littering, etc. then no matter who they are, they are a piece of shit to me. Unfortunately a lot of homeless people have proven themselves to be pieces of shit, and then they expect others to help them with handouts so that they can continue down that shitty path. No thanks. I was homeless myself, but figured out ways to shower and look decent for job interviews, and eventually got a job while homeless, saved money and found a cheap room to rent and nowadays that life is long behind me. I didn't let myself slip down the path of being covered in dirt, holding signs begging, expecting others to help me. It's all a choice. And most homeless people made the wrong choices. I used to have sympathy, remembering how scared, cold and hungry I always was. On 5 separate occasions in the same year I bought food for a homeless person outside of the food place they were begging at and you know what they said? Oh thanks, but do you have any money? Back when I was homeless I would have been so grateful for this gesture, never thinking to ask for more. So, that fifth person finally made me realize that I have nothing I want to offer to homeless people. Figure it out or die, nobody really cares about you, just like nobody cares about me. Good luck, sounds like you'll need it.
