RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Your local library has missed you, Rancho Santa Margarita. The Rancho Santa Margarita Library is hosting a grand re-opening Oct. 20 and the entire community is invited to celebrate the return of the library after it closed in December for renovations.
Community members can see those renovations firsthand if they attend the launch event. According to library staff member Sean Whittle, the library has undergone a number of improvements including the installation of energy-efficient lighting and updated Internet/data cabling. The renovated library also features new paint, hardwood flooring, furniture and computers, as well as a laptop kiosk for the public to use.
"We are very excited to continue providing quality service. The library has been closed since December and everyone is looking forward to reopening our doors for the Rancho Santa Margarita community," Whittle told Patch. "The community has expressed their anticipation as well, so it will be great to be back open."
The ceremony will start at 11 a.m. and feature the famed and super-cool Pete the Cat, a cat character illustrated by James Dean, will be in attendance to help celebrate. According to Whittle, Pete the Cat is very popular at Orange County branch libraries and is known for being very cool and having spiffy white shoes.
The grand reopening of the Rancho Santa Margarita Library takes place Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. at 30902 La Promesa.
