Students from area towns like Homer Glen, Lemont, Lockport and Romeoville are celebrating accomplishments throughout the semester, including academic and athletic achievements. The following information was provided by Merit Pages News: SNHU Announces Summer 2021 President's List Southern New Hampshire University announced the following students to its summer 2021 President's List: Brian Garvey of Romeoville, Peyton Artus of Homer Glen, Andrew Wherry of Romeoville, Arthur Kolodziej of Homer Glen, Christopher Tedor of Lockport and Suzanne Mailhot of Lemont. Full-time students who have earned a minimum grade point average of 3.700 and above are named to the President's List. Elizabeth Carignan Honored as Inaugural Inductee of Pi Theta Epsilon Six Lewis University students were recently inducted into Pi Theta Epsilon - Occupational Therapy National Honor Society. A ceremony was held for the inaugural inductees on Sept. 8 at Lewis University in Romeoville. Elizabeth Carignan, Sokea Chidlow, Rachel Eriksen, Miranda Grizaffi, Nicole Santillo, and Rachel Schneider are the first Lewis University students to be initiated into Pi Theta Epsilon. Carignan is from Romeoville. These inaugural inductees are among the top 35 percent of their class, and have a minimum 3.5 GPA. To be formally accepted into Pi Theta Epsilon, applicants also submitted items for evaluation by the national organization. These items include a sample of scholarly work, and evidence of scholastic recognition, publication, leadership and/or service. Faculty Advisor Dr. Allison Richardson, assistant professor of occupational therapy, assisted in establishing the Zeta Alpha chapter of Pi Theta Epsilon at Lewis University. Lockport's Hollatz of UW-Whitewater Softball Honored for Academics Mallory Hollatz, of Lockport, and graduate of Lockport Township High School, was one of 22 members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater softball team who were selected as 2021 Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athletes. Hollatz is majoring in political science at UW-Whitewater. She was a part of the Warhawks during the 2021 season. UW-Whitewater was also recognized as a 2021 Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top-10 Grade Point Average Team. The Warhawks recorded a 3.791 GPA during the 2020-21 year, the seventh-highest in NCAA Division III. All 22 student-athletes helped the 2021 Warhawks win the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship for the fourth straight season. The team finished the year with a 29-10 record after reaching the WIAC Tournament championship series.
