Joliet Sex Offender On John St. Caught With Child Porn: Sheriff

JOLIET, IL — Jason Raman, a 37-year-old registered sex offender who lives on Joliet's west side, is now in the Will County Jail in connection with four counts of possessing child pornography and one count of failing to register as a sex offender. The Will County Sheriff's Office announced that an arrest warrant was served on Wednesday and that "Raman was interviewed at his home and made statements implicating himself." The sheriff's office said it began its investigation in July when detectives received a tip regarding a Joliet resident that was involved in sharing child pornography through an online mobile application. "During a two-month investigation the offender was identified, and additional evidence was collected," authorities said. Raman, who resides at 1204 John St., was taken into custody, transported to the county jail and his bail was set at $350,000, Will County Sheriff's officials announced. According to the Illinois State Police registry, Raman was 24 and his victim was 10 at the time he was convicted of child pornography involving photos and films in Will County.
