JOLIET, IL — A Will County judge has set bail at $250,000 for a 19-year-old Joliet resident who threw a loaded gun outside the passenger window of a car last weekend in the 1100 block of Draper Avenue, according to Joliet police. Officers booked Jesus Angel Garcia into custody at the Will County Jail early Sunday morning, and he remains there, unable to post 10 percent of his bail. Garcia lives in the 900 block of Gardner Street on the city's east side near Nowell Park. Garcia has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition and having no Firearm Owners Identification card. Joliet police also arrested the 18-year-old driver of their vehicle on charges of fleeing the police. The 18-year-old was released on an I-bond, police said. According to Joliet police, officers tried to make a traffic stop of the two teenagers in the 900 block of Draper Avenue, but they did not pull over and a brief chase ensued. The teens pulled into a driveway in the 1100 block of Draper "at which time officers observed an object being thrown from the passenger side of the window," police reports show. According to Joliet police, Garcia threw a loaded 9mm handgun out the window and police later recovered this gun. Last October, Garcia was the subject of another Joliet Patch crime story, headlined: "Man Shot Leaving East Side Bar, Joliet Police Capture Garcia, 18." One year ago, Patch reported that more than two weeks after a 38-year-old Crest Hill man got shot leaving a bar in the 800 block of East Jackson Street, Joliet police captured their shooting suspect, 18-year-old Jesus Angel Garcia, near his house in the 900 block of Gardner Street, which is across from Nowell Park. Garcia faced two charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated discharge of a gun and aggravated battery with a gun. Will C0unty Jail logs show that Garcia spent six full months in the Will County Jail in connection with the shooting on Jackson Street. He was released from custody on April 27.
