JOLIET, IL — A 49-year-old Pontiac man was arrested last weekend at the Walmart on Route 59 after Joliet police officers say Daniel Orndorff tried to steal more than $500 in merchandise from the retail store. Orndorff was booked into the Will County Jail on Sunday night on charges of retail theft, obstructing a peace officer, and he had an arrest warrant for forgery out of McLean County. The incident leading to Orndorff's arrest by Joliet police happened around 9:50 p.m. "Officers determined that Orndorff pushed a shopping cart containing over $500 worth of merchandise past the last point of sale without paying," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English notified Joliet Patch. English said the Walmart loss prevention officers attempted to stop Orndorff, but he continued out of the store. Orndorff was eventually taken into custody by officers in the parking lot, where he refused to give his name, according to police. Orndorff later provided his identification to officers, who then determined Orndorff also held a valid arrest warrant from McLean County for forgery, Joliet police reports show. Orndorff remained in the Will County Jail on Friday. His bail was set at $32,000. Daniel Orndorff was arrested at the Walmart on Route 59. Mugshot via Joliet police
