ELGIN, IL — One man died in a Plank Road car crash in unincorporated Plato Township Thursday afternoon, the Kane County Sheriff's Office said. Two others were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Kane County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the area on Plank Road between Barr and Marshall roads for the crash around 12:15 p.m. Thursday. An initial investigation showed a Toyota RAV4 was driving west on Plank Road when, for reasons unknown, it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Chevy pickup truck that was pulling a landscaping trailer, officials said.
The man driving the Toyota, who was the only one in the car, died on the scene. His name hasn't been released due to the pending notification of his family.
Streamwood resident Jorge Andrade, 33, was driving the Chevy. His 2-year-old son was in the car with him, and both were taken to an Elgin-area hospital after the crash, officials said.
Kane County Sheriff's detectives, along with members from the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team, are investigating the crash.
No citations have been issued, officials said.
