They are beautiful dogs When describing these dogs, the term is actually an abbreviation of cur-tailed, as in a dog with a naturally occurring bobtail like that of the extinct English cur; many of the earlier examples of this type had a bobtail and some still do. The father is a bob-tailed Black Mouth Cur. He is a beautiful dog. The mother is a Treeing Cur X X Bull. She is a great dog all around. Both are very loyal and protective dogs, especially of children. We trained ours to get in the way and prevent children from being struck, and it is very easy to train them because they are a naturally loyal and protecting sensitive breed. Energetic, fearless, and strong, the Black Mouth Cur is valued as an all-around working dog bred to help farmers and hunters in the rugged terrain of the southeastern United States. The breed can herd livestock, protect the home, and track game; although, these dogs also have a sensitive side that doesn’t respond well to harsh rebukes or punishment. So extra care is needed when training, such as potty training so that the pups aren't made to be fearful of you and timid. Just think of it as if it were your best friend, You would feel very upset if you thought your best friend was being abusive to you.
